Memorial Day Weekend Travel Tips
Are you planning to travel this weekend? Most Americans are! Nearly 40 million Americans, including 34.6 million in cars are expected to according to the national motor club, AAA. This is the reported highest travel volume during the holiday weekend since 2005.
It is also no secret that the roadways are going to be heavily patrolled by law enforcement. In order to save yourself extra time and money on your trip. Make sure you know the speed limit at all times and that you are going the speed limit. On the way to your destination and on the way back, law enforcement is not going to take any time off this weekend. Besides obeying the road regulations, let’s discuss other safety tips:
- Ensure your car has enough gas, if you are going miles and miles until the nearest gas station you do not want to risk running out.
- Do not be distracted behind the wheel. Distracted driving is an epidemic in our country right now, be sure you are paying attention at the wheel at all times.
- Examine your route before you leave. Try not to just jump in the car then press Google Maps and go. It will be helpful in the long run if you are somewhat familiar with the route so that way you are not waiting till the last minutes for exits and turns.
- Make sure your car has all the materials you would need in case of an emergency. A spare tire, first-aid kit, flares, water bottles and items like that are important in case of an emergency.
